Words Worth is one of the most feature-rich and affordable English language learning platforms for schools and colleges worldwide. Trusted by over 3,000 institutions and used by more than a million learners annually, it brings together all essential tools and resources to deliver a high-quality language learning experience in one unified system.
The goal of this project was to improve the existing UI for three primary users: teachers, students, and admins. This case study focuses on the Teacher’s Profile, showcasing how we redesigned the experience to better suit real user needs. The previous interface had not been designed with users in mind—its visuals and language felt overly technical and lacked intuitive structure. Our challenge was to simplify the experience, making it more usable, accessible, and teacher-friendly.
Challenges
The teacher platform was packed with features and information, but lacked a clear structure. Important actions were buried, and the interface used overly technical language that made navigation difficult for users. The UI needed a complete content and visual overhaul to enhance clarity and usability. One of the biggest challenges was redesigning over 50+ assignment types—from fill-in-the-blanks to match-the-following—to ensure consistency, accessibility, and ease of use. Each had to be thoughtfully reimagined with both function and user experience in mind.

Affinity Mapping
We began with affinity mapping to organize the insights gathered from user surveys and firsthand experience with the existing Words Worth application. Since the app was already live on the Play Store and actively used by a large user base, we also analyzed user reviews to understand common pain points and feature requests. This process helped us identify recurring issues and prioritize meaningful improvements.

Competitor Analysis
To gain a deeper understanding of the market and identify opportunities for differentiation, we conducted a detailed competitor analysis. This involved evaluating top-performing educational apps and platforms—both direct and indirect competitors.
User Persona
To better empathize with our target audience and design for their specific needs, we created two detailed user personas based on insights gathered through surveys, app reviews, and stakeholder discussions. These personas helped us frame the user journey, prioritize features, and ensure the product speaks to both ends of the user spectrum.
Information Architecture
Then we restructured the platform's IA by organizing content and features based on user behavior and key tasks. The goal was to reduce cognitive load, streamline navigation, and ensure that both teachers and students could easily find what they need.
Task Flow
Impact
The launch of the new UI was met with positive feedback from teachers, who found the updated design intuitive and much easier to navigate. We conducted onboarding sessions to walk them through the new features, and many reported that the improvements made their daily tasks more manageable and efficient. Students also showed increased engagement completing more assignments, driven by the motivation of personalized feedback integrated into the platform. Additionally, a social media launch helped generate excitement and awareness, strengthening the platform’s visibility and reach among new users.
